UI GreenMetric World University Rankings เป็นการวัดและจัดอันดับโดย มหาวิทยาลัยอินโดนีเซีย (Universitas Indonesia: UI) ได้ริเริ่มการจัดอันดับมหาวิทยาลัยโลกขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 2010 เป็นการจัดอันดับสถาบันการศึกษาสีเขียวที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อมระดับโลก ถือเป็นการวัดความสำเร็จของมหาวิทยาลัยที่ได้พัฒนาปรับปรุงสภาพแวดล้อมภายในมหาวิทยาลัยให้เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม การจัดอันดับมหาวิทยาลัยสีเขียวโลก (UI GreenMetric World University Rankings) ใช้แบบสอบถามรูปแบบออนไลน์ที่กำหนดขึ้นเพื่อใช้รวบรวมข้อมูลหลักฐานที่ได้รับจากมหาวิทยาลัยทั่วโลกและประเมินมหาวิทยาลัย “สีเขียว” ตามเกณฑ์การจัดอันดับ ซึ่งมีหลักเกณฑ์ที่ใช้เป็นตัวชี้วัดในการจัดอันดับจำนวน 6 ด้าน ได้แก่
  1. ที่ตั้งและโครงสร้างพื้นฐาน (Setting & Infrastructure: SI) คะแนน 15%
    • Type of higher education institution
    • Climate
    • Number of campus site
    • Main campus setting
    • Total main campus area (meter square)
    • Total main campus ground floor area of buildings (meter square)
    • Total main campus buildings area (meter square)
    • The ratio of open space towards total area. Formula: ((1.5-1.6/1.5)*100%)
    • Total area on campus covered in forest vegetation (please provide total area in meter square)
    • Total area on campus covered in planted vegetation (please provide total area in meter square)
    • Total area on campus for water absorption besided forest and planted vegetation (please provide total area in meter square)
    • Total number of regular students (part time and full time)
    • Total number of online students (part time and full time)
    • Total number of academic and administrative staff
    • The total of open space area divided campus population. Formula: ((1.5-1.6)/(1.12+1.14))
    • Total university budget (in US Dollars)
    • University budget for sustainability effort (in US Dollars)
    • Percentage of University budget for sustainability effort within a year

    • Energy efficient appliances usage
    • Total main campus smart building area (meter square
    • Smart Building implementation (percentage of the total floor area of smart building to the total smart building area)
    • Number of renewable energy sources in campus (solar power, bio diesel, wind power, etc)
    • Please specify renewable energy sources in campus and provide capacity produced in kilo watt hour
    • Electricity usage per year (in kilo watt hour)
    • The total electricity usage divided by campus population (kWh per person). Formula: ((2.6)/(1.12+1.14))
    • Ratio of renewable energy production towards total energy usage per year
    • Elements of green building implementation as reflected in all construction and renovation policies (e.g. natural ventilation, full natural day-lighting, existence of building energy manager, and existence of Green Building)
    • Greenhouse gas emission reduction program
    • Please provide total carbon footprint (CO2 emission in the last 12 months, in metric tons)
    • The total carbon footprint divided by campus population (metric ton per person). Formula: ((2.11)/(1.12+1.14))

    • Number of cars actively used and managed by University
    • Number of cars entering the university daily
    • Number of motorcycles entering the university daily
    • The Ratio of Vehicles (cars and motorcycles) divided campus population. Formula: ((5.1+5.2+5.3)/(1.12+1.14))
    • Shuttle service
    • Number of shuttles operated in your university
    • Average number of passengers of each shuttle
    • Total trips of shuttle services each day
    • Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) policy on campus
    • Average number of Zero Emission Vehicles (e.g. bicycles, cano, snowboard, electric car, etc.) on campus per day
    • The Ratio of Zero Emission vehicle divided campus population. Formula: ((5.10)/(1.12+1.14))
    • Total parking area (meter square)
    • Ratio of parking area to total campus area
    • Transportation program designed to limit or decrease the parking area on campus over the last 3 years
    • Number of transportation initiatives to decrease private vehicles on campus (e.g. car sharing, charging high parking fees, metro / tram / bus services and etc)
    • Pedestrian path policy on campus
    • Approximate daily travel distance of a vehicle inside campus only (in Kilometers)
  6. การศึกษาและการวิจัย (Education & Research: ED) คะแนน 18%
    • Number of courses/subjects related to sustainability offered
    • Total number of courses/subjects offered
    • The ratio of sustainability courses divided by total courses / subjects
    • Total research funds dedicated to sustainability research (in US Dollars) (average per annum over the last 3 years)
    • Total research funds (in US Dollars) (average per annum over the last 3 years).
    • The ratio of sustainability research funding divided by total research funding
    • Number of scholarly publications on sustainability published. (average annualy for the past 3 years)
    • Number of events related to sustainability. (average annualy for the past 3 years)
    • Number of student organizations related to sustainability
    • Existence of a university-run sustainability website
    • Sustainability website address if available
    • Existence of published sustainability report

ในปี ค.ศ. 2022 UI Green Matrix ได้กำหนดหัวข้อไว้เป็น “Collective Actions for Transforming Sustainable Universities in the Post-Pandemic Time” โดยมุ่งเน้นความพยายามของมหาวิทยาลัยในการดำเนินโครงการและนโยบายด้านความยั่งยืนตาม UI Green Matrix และ SDGs ในขณะที่เตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับการเรียนการสอน การเรียนรู้และการวิจัย ในช่วงหลังสถานการณ์แพร่ระบาดของโรค Covid-19

จากผลการจัดอันดับ UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2022 มหาวิทยาลัยสุโขทัยธรรมาธิราชได้คะแนน 6,070 คะแนน จาก 10,000 คะแนน จัดเป็นอันดับที่ 489 จาก 1,050 มหาวิทยาลัยทั่วโลก และได้อันดับที่ 28 ของ มหาวิทยาลัยในประเทศไทย มหาวิทยาลัยสุโขทัยธรรมาธิราชได้กำหนดให้ความยั่งยืนเป็นหนึ่งในพันธกิจหลักของมหาวิทยาลัย (STOU Plan for Excellence) (ที่มา: https://global.stou.ac.th/blog/awards/154/)
